Fun Photos Today!

These photos are of my niece's room. She has a new room in a new house so of course we had to make it special! She is 11 and has a bright cheery personality! So it's only fitting to do her room in this awesome blue with accents of lime, yellow, fuschia and orange! So fun!

The main piece we did for her is our all girl flower - Sugar and spice and everything nice! I like the way the shape of the flower and mirror work together. You can also see one of our 3 little birdies on the mirror.

We also did her name to go over this really fun message board. Gotta have a place to do homework! She is a smart girl and gets great grades! GO MEGAN!

And last but not least - a chalk board. This is not vinyl but it's way too fun not to share the details of how to make your own! Her very cool mom got the 'recipe' from Martha and now I'm sharing it here! I love projects and anything you can do yourself at home in a resourceful way. If you've ever shopped for chalkboard paint you'll know that it only comes in the classic chalkboard green and black. Not a lot of options. Well, with this recipe you can make ANY color chalkboard you want! How cool! Oh the fun ideas running through my mind!!

recipe and instructions:
*Start with flat-finish latex paint in any shade. For small areas, such as a door panel, mix 1 cup at a time.

1. Pour 1 cup of paint into a container. Add 2 tablespoons of unsanded tile grout. Mix with a paint stirrer, carefully breaking up clumps.
2. Apply paint with a roller or a sponge paintbrush to a primed or painted surface. Work in small sections, going over the same spot several times to ensure full, even coverage. Let dry.
3. Smooth area with 150-grit sandpaper, and wipe off dust.
4. To condition: Rub the side of a piece of chalk over entire surface. Wipe away residue with a barely damp sponge.

You can make it as big or small as you like - Megan wanted hers very large and everyone loves to go in her room and leave special messages for her. Such a cool idea!

So I wanna see some of YOUR chalkboard ideas! I'll be sharing one very soon!

Have fun today!
