Color Tips

If there is one thing I have had questions about since opening Single Stone, it is COLOR! So many of you have agonized over your choices - and I completely get it! Color can change the entire look of an image. As an example I chose my Baroque image. On first glance, I think, most people see this as a very traditional piece - until you change the color! You can see in the examples color plays a HUGE part in the way the image is perceived. All colors in the examples are from the Single Stone palette.

In the first set of examples the stark black and white and the use of fuchsia give this image a very modern look. Also, very hot right now - I am definitely a fan! It's a great example of what color can do!

Next with the very neutral, monochromatic color choices the image takes on a traditional more reserved kind of feel. Very typical use of an image like this. The block on the left is brown and cream-the block on the right is light brown and brown.

Then there is the balance between the two choices. These colors are bold and have contrast yet they still feel warm and still pack enough punch to get noticed. Colors: Block on left - Cream and Burgundy - Block on right - Ochre and Black.

I have also taken my color palette and worked up some color combinations with it. Below is a chart which is not ALL the combinations that can be made with the colors we have but it will hopefully get the ball rolling on making color choices. And how the vinyl color will coordinate with other colors you already have in your homes.

HERE IT IS!!!

This is a 12x12 ceramic tile with the vinyl decal applied directly to it. I LOVE the way this looks! I was thinking of putting it on an entry way table (on a simple plate stand) when I made it. I also think it would look cute outside on a front porch.

Hey Everyone

I finished the project last night and I am SO Happy with how it turned out. I love a project that is really simple but looks really great! I should warn you up front that this post is to let you know I will be posting the project tonight after work. Only one more week of my "day job" and I will be working only at Single Stone! WOOHOO!

Anyway - I took the photos of the project this morning so I just need to make a few adjustments in Photoshop and post them tonight with instructions on how to WIN!! I have 2 more projects to post next week so don't forget to come back to enter to win those as well. There will be 3 winners to be announced May 2nd, 3rd and 4th! I will also be running a sale during the Grand Opening Bash along with the release of a bunch of new images, collections of images to decorate an entire room or to make a focal point in a room as well as 3 new COLORS! I LOVE COLOR! (hint: look for a "color tips" post on the blog Sunday!) I'm so excited for the Grand Opening! We're going to have so much fun and I hope you all love the new collection of images!

Sidetracked

Hey Everyone -

I have been designing all night! So much to get done for the big release. Last minute tweeks to images, working on prize projects and sometimes getting sidetracked by something totally not in the plans - like this...

Somehow I went from working on an Italian Kitchen theme to circles. :) I think they look like olives - Martini anyone? Ok, back to the designing - still need to get a few more things done tonight.

Single Stone Studios GRAND OPENING BASH!

Sorry I am late with the news! We have some hard-core little league coaches this year and I couldn't get home to post! :)

OK, So here it is...

Single Stone has had a lot of interest since we opened our store on eBay! And we are so excited we have decided to throw a BIG GRAND OPENING BASH! The bash starts May 2nd and we’ll party all weekend long! Friday, Saturday & Sunday!

I will be updating the blog often with lots of fun ideas, sneak peeks of more images and handmade projects by me! Using some of the new images of course! Let me know you like the projects by replying to the posting and it could be YOURS! I will post the details on how to win when I post the project – look for that this weekend! (Hint: There will be more than one chance to win)

I will also be posting color combinations using the Single Stone color palette – including 3 NEW COLORS!! I’m psyched to expand our color choices. I already have the vinyls in the studio and they are so cool!
